Dear Maria,
I've just approved the figures and sent an email to Fatimah Hakim to say so.
As for your 4 questions, here are some answers:
1 and 2. There is no update yet on these two papers. I hope we will know more at the
proof stage in 2-3 weeks time. Mike Mann is trying to find out about both papers.
3. Yes, this will be fine.
4. Year for both should be 2003.
Cheers
Phil

Dear Dr. Jones,
The Image Center has put the revised figures on the checksite for your or Dr. Mann's
approval.
I have just a few follow-up questions.
(1) I do not find a record of having asked for an update of the Mann et al. (Climate
Change) paper. Has this been accepted yet? If it has been published, please supply
volume, pages, and year of publication.
(2) If you find that the Rutherford et al. (Journal of Climate) paper is still under
review, the treatment in text can be changed at proof stage. Also, if publication
information becomes available, we can make that change.
(3) Would the following be satisfactory (section 4.2)?
"However, a careful analysis [Mann et al., 2004] of the McIntyre and McKittrick [2003]
result reveals that their anomalous 15th century warmth results from their elimination
of over 70% of the 15th century proxy data used by Mann et al. [1998a]."
(4) What year would be appropriate for the von Storch and Ammann personal
communications?
Thank you for looking these over.
Best regards,
Maria

Maria,

You should have all the figures now, if the Image Center can produce the b/w
version
of Fig 8.
I'll leave that with Mike to do if there are problems.
As I'm away March 22-23 and April 1-2 can you ask the Image Center to send
revised figures for checking to both of us.
With a projected date of April 15 for the proofs, I'll be away from April 13-30. I
should have
times that I'll be able to connect, but response won't be as quick as normal.
Cheers
Phil
